Effective date: October 23, 2026.
These Terms of Service set out the rules that apply when you use this website or buy studio work from Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC. The Company keeps its bench at 1143 W Jordan River Dr, South Jordan - 84095-8246, United States (US), and it can be reached by email at studio@knottedinkwell.buzz or by telephone at +17795993611.
Please read the full page before you accept a quote or book a workshop seat. The terms are written to be clear, and they are meant to protect both the client and the hands at the bench.
Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service govern the use of www.knottedinkwell.buzz and the relationship between you and Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC when you enquire about, book or buy studio work. The site is owned and operated by Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC, a company registered in the United States with a studio at 1143 W Jordan River Dr, South Jordan - 84095-8246, United States (US).
By opening a page, sending a note, booking a workshop or accepting a quote, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or place an order. If you are acting for a business, you confirm that you have authority to bind that business to these terms.
These terms should be read together with the Privacy Policy, which explains how information is handled. Where the two documents overlap, the Privacy Policy controls questions about personal information and these terms control questions about the work itself.
Definitions Used on This Page
Company, we, us and our refer to Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC. Site refers to this website and every page reached from it. Client or you refers to the person or business that uses the site or buys studio work. Work refers to any panel, hanger, garland, repair, workshop session or installation provided by the Company.
Quote means the written offer that sets out scope, material, price, timeline and any special condition. Drawing means the paper or digital pattern approved before bench work starts. Care Sheet means the written note supplied with finished work that describes dusting, combing and adjustment.
Working day means Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Writing means a message to studio@knottedinkwell.buzz or a letter to the studio address, and it includes any reply sent in the same channel.
Permitted Use of the Site
You may read the site, print a page for personal reference and send a note through the contact form. You may share a link to any page. You may not copy the design of the site, the text on a page or the studio drawings and present them as your own.
You agree not to interfere with the site, to probe it for weaknesses without written permission, to submit automated requests that burden the server, to submit false information through the contact form, or to use the site in a way that breaks the law. Access may be limited or withdrawn if any of these things happen.
The site is offered for information and enquiry. It is not a shopping checkout, and no order is complete until the Company confirms it in writing and any required deposit has cleared.
How an Order Begins
An enquiry is not an order. A conversation about a room, a size or a date is simply the start of planning. An order begins only when the Company issues a written quote, you confirm acceptance in writing and the deposit described in the quote has been received.
The drawing is part of the order. You will be asked to approve the pattern, the cord weight and the finish before the bench work begins. Approval can be given by email. Once approved, the drawing becomes the reference for the finished piece, and later changes fall under the section on changes below.
A quote remains open for fourteen days unless it says otherwise. After that period the Company may revise the price to reflect material cost or the workshop calendar.
Pricing and Payment
Prices are stated in United States dollars and are set out in the written quote. A quote covers the materials named in it, the bench time, the finish and delivery to the address you supply. It does not cover a change of address after dispatch, a wall fixing method that requires a specialist trade, or a permit fee charged by a building.
A deposit is required before a commission or an installation enters the calendar. The deposit amount appears on the quote and is normally one half of the total for a commission and one third for a workshop seat. The balance falls due on completion of the work or on the day of the session, as the quote states.
Payment methods are listed on the quote. The studio does not store card numbers, and payment details should never be sent through the contact form. Late balances may delay delivery or installation, and the Company may hold finished work until the balance clears.
Commissions and Approvals
A wall commission is made once, for one address. The Company does not repeat another client design, and it retains the right to decline a request that would copy an existing piece too closely.
You are responsible for providing accurate opening measurements and for confirming that the wall can carry the anchors described in the drawing. If the site visit shows that the original measurement cannot work, the Company will propose a revised plan and a revised quote before any cord is cut.
Small variations in tone, thickness and fringe length are part of hand work and are not treated as defects. The drawing is a plan, not a photograph, and a finished panel that follows the approved plan in overall size and pattern is considered complete.
Workshop Bookings
A workshop seat is reserved when the booking is confirmed and the session fee is paid. Places are limited so that every guest receives attention at the bench. A guest who arrives late may join at the current step, but the session will not be restarted for one person.
Guests are asked to follow the safety guidance given at the start of the session, especially around cutting tools, hot sealing and the storage of cord. The Company may refuse a place or end a session for a guest who puts others at risk.
Finished workshop pieces are hand made by a learner and may not match a studio sample exactly. The Company will help a guest correct a missed knot during the session but does not promise a perfect finish after the guest has left the room.
Repair Work and Estimates
A repair begins with a photograph and a description of the damaged section. The Company will say whether a close match is possible, whether a deliberate contrast band is a better choice, or whether the piece cannot be repaired safely.
A repair estimate is based on the work described before the piece arrives. If an inspection reveals more damage, the Company will pause, explain the extra work and issue a revised estimate. Work does not resume until the revised estimate is accepted.
Repaired work carries the same limits as a new piece. A repair cannot restore a cord that has lost its strength across the whole panel, and the Company may recommend replacement in that case rather than promise a result it cannot deliver.
Trade and Installation Services
Installations are planned with a site visit, a wall survey and an anchoring plan. You are responsible for confirming that the building owner allows the fixing method and for telling the Company about pipes, wiring or hidden services in the wall.
The Company will not drill into a wall without a confirmed plan. If a hidden service is discovered after work begins, the Company may pause the install and ask for a revised arrangement. Any delay caused by an unsafe wall or an unclear building rule is not the fault of the Company.
Installations are scheduled outside peak hours where the quote says so. Staff at a trade site receive a Care Sheet, and the Company will explain the adjustments needed over the first weeks after a panel is hung.
Delivery and Risk
Small pieces ship flat with the hardware needed for hanging. Larger pieces may be delivered by hand or by a carrier chosen with you. The delivery address must be accurate and reachable, and any access restriction should be noted before dispatch.
Risk in the work passes to you when the piece is handed over at the address or collected by you. Please inspect the packaging and the piece at the moment of handover and report visible damage within three working days with photographs. The Company will arrange a repair or a remake where the damage occurred in transit and was reported in time.
Delivery windows are estimates based on the carrier schedule. The Company will keep you informed of a delay, but it is not responsible for a carrier delay outside its control.
Changes and Cancellations
You may request a change to a drawing before the bench work starts. Small changes are usually free; a new pattern or a different cord weight may require a revised quote and a new start date.
A cancellation of a commission is accepted in writing. If the cancellation arrives before materials are cut, the deposit is returned less a small planning fee. If it arrives after the bench work has begun, the Company will keep the portion that reflects work already done and return the rest.
A workshop seat can be transferred to another person at no charge up to two working days before the session. A cancellation inside two working days may be moved once to a later date if a seat is free, and otherwise the fee is not returned.
Workmanship and Remedies
The Company warrants its workmanship for twelve months from handover. If a knot comes loose, a row pulls unevenly or a join fails under normal indoor use, the Company will repair the piece at no charge after inspecting it.
The warranty does not cover damage from water, direct sun exposure over a long period, smoke residue, pets, improper cleaning, a wall anchor that was not installed as planned, or any alteration made by another party. Natural cord changes color and softens with age, and that change is not a defect.
If a warranty claim is accepted, the Company may choose to repair, remake or refund the affected piece. These are the full remedies available, and they replace any other promise that the law does not require to remain.
Intellectual Property
The text, layout, palette and drawn motifs of this site belong to Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC. The studio drawings, patterns and sample designs are the property of the Company. They are shared with a client for the purpose of a single commission and may not be reproduced, resold or taught as a rival pattern.
Finished work is yours to own, display, resell or gift. The studio retains the right to photograph a completed piece for its own project record unless you ask otherwise in writing before handover. Photographs are taken without personal details in frame, and no client name is published without permission.
You may not use the name Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC, the studio name Knotted Inkwell or any logo of the Company in a way that suggests a partnership or endorsement that does not exist.
Limits on Liability
Nothing in these terms removes liability that cannot be removed by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Subject to that, the Company is not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, lost opportunity or loss of goodwill arising from the use of the site or from a delay in studio work.
Where liability does arise, it is limited to the amount paid for the work that gave rise to the claim, or to a reasonable repair cost where the claim concerns a finished piece. The Company is not responsible for the condition of a wall, a ceiling fixing point or a building service that was not disclosed before an installation.
The site is provided as a working studio page. The Company aims to keep it accurate and available, but it does not promise that every page will be free of error or that access will never be interrupted.
Indemnity
You agree to cover reasonable losses, costs and legal fees that the Company incurs because of a claim arising from your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, your failure to disclose a wall condition before an installation, or your infringement of the rights of another person.
This indemnity does not apply to the extent that a loss is caused by the negligence or misconduct of the Company. It is intended to keep a fair balance where a client provides wrong information or uses the studio name without authority.
Disputes and Governing Law
If a problem arises, write to the studio first. Most questions about a knot, a delivery date or a fringe length can be settled by a short conversation at the bench or over the telephone. The Company will respond to a written concern within five working days and propose a practical next step.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute that cannot be settled by discussion will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Utah, and each party consents to that venue.
If a provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remainder stays in force and the unenforceable part is read down to the minimum extent the law allows.
Suspension and Termination
The Company may suspend or end access to the site for a person who breaks these terms, sends abusive messages, attempts to disrupt the site or misuses studio drawings. Suspension does not affect a right to payment for work already completed.
You may end the relationship at any time by writing to the studio, subject to the section on changes and cancellations. On ending the relationship, the Company will keep only the records it needs for tax, accounting or warranty purposes and will delete the rest as the Privacy Policy describes.
General Provisions
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any written quote, form the full agreement between you and the Company. A statement made in a conversation does not change the agreement unless it is confirmed in writing.
A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later. A notice must be sent in writing to studio@knottedinkwell.buzz or to the studio address to be effective.
The Company may update these terms when the site or the service changes. The revised terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and a material change will be announced before it takes effect for existing orders.
